Diverging Lens or Concave Lens

Concave lens is the lens which is thinner in the middle than the edge. A parallel beam of light falls on a concave lens as shown in the figure. After passing through the concave lens, the rays of light are diverging. Since, a concave lens diverges light rays falling on it, therefore, it is also called diverging lens.

Image formed by concave lens:

In the case of a convex lens, the nature of image formed depends on the distance of the object from the convex lens. But, this not followed in the case of a concave lens. In the case of a concave lens that whatever be the distance of an object from a concave lens, the image formed by a concave lens is always
